Youth Empowerment

The youth is a nation’s investment, and their outcome will reflect the level of investment made. KJM Foundation aims to empower the youth through mentorship and seminars, scrum master programs, grass-to-grace projects and agriculture.
In Ghana, the unemployment rate grew from 4.7% in 2021 to 13.44% in 2022, the current economic hardship and the high illegal migration practised by Ghanaians who seek greener pastures abroad are major problems in Ghana. There is a need to empower the youth to understand that the solution to the problems of the nation lies in their innovative ability and they too can contribute immensely. (National unemployment rate stands at 13.44% – employment minister 2022).

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT CONFERENCE 2024 (UPCOMING)

The foundation is eagerly planning to launch its maiden Youth Empowerment Conference in 2024 to reform the mindset of young people towards sustainable development and innovation.

SCRUM MASTER PROGRAM (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)

The foundation is providing opportunities for young people to engage in a scrum master program that will develop their project management skills. It is aimed at producing people-oriented leaders who have a high level of emotional intelligence and derive satisfaction in helping team members to grow. This will enable participants to secure paid online jobs based on their performance. Thus, developing professional skills and creating income-earning opportunities for young people.

GRASS TO GRACE PROJECT – IDENTIFYING TALENT AND EMPOWERING INDIVIDUALS (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)

This project is geared towards identifying talents, nurturing them and providing the necessary opportunities to empower young people to move from a low level (grass) to a higher (grace). Sometimes, talented people do not utilize their skills because they do not have the needed support to do so. We aim at nurturing, resourcing and mentoring young people, for instance, those on the street, to utilize their talents and contribute to national, regional and global developments across various industries. We are currently developing this program and welcome partners who share a similar vision.

KJM FOUNDATION AGRO BUSINESS (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)

Agriculture is recognised as the mainstay of Ghana’s economy with a greater impact on poverty reduction than other sectors (Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ghana). The foundation in partnership with KJM Trading will employ young people to work on large acres of farms, train them, provide them with the needed resources and enable them to grow in their skills. We will then offtake from the young people and enable them to expand their businesses to the point of self-sufficiency. Thus, this is a cyclical process where an immediate market is provided to trainees and resources are available for learning and expansion. Some inedible parts of agricultural produce will be reused for animal feed and fertilizer so that everything is utilized in the process. Thus, providing economic opportunities for young people and contributing to economic growth in Ghana in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly manner.
